What does Santa do in the summer? He takes a July vacation, of course. Read along to hear all about his summer adventures.
After the short winter days have passed, the elves are done tidying up the workshop, and the last sleigh bell has been packed away, Santa does something much needed.
He takes a vacation, ya’ll!!!
Yes, it’s true! Even the jolliest man in the world needs a little rest, and July is the absolute perfect time for it. I mean, obviously, with Christmas in July and all! But where does he go? Come in close, and I will tell you.
Closer!
ClOsEr!
TOO CLOSE!

Load Up The Summer Sleigh!

Santa doesn’t fly his big sleigh in July. Instead, he takes his special summer sleigh — it looks just like a cozy camper with candy-cane stripes and peppermint wheels. It doesn’t need reindeer to pull it; it runs on giggles and gingerbread crumbs (Mrs. Claus is very careful to pack extra).
First Stop, Christmas Island
One of Santa’s favorite places to visit is a tiny tropical spot called Christmas Island. He trades in his big red suit for a red Hawaiian shirt, sandals with jingle bells, and sunglasses shaped like snowflakes. There, he sips chilled cocoa out of a coconut and builds sand-snowmen by the shore. The islanders all know him — but they keep his secret!

Next, Off to Catch Fireflies in the Mountains

Next, Santa loves to spend quiet days in a cozy cabin high up in the Appalachian Mountains. There, he and Mrs. Claus roast marshmallows by the fireplace, take long starlit walks, and catch fireflies (always releasing them unhurt, of course). The elves sometimes visit on weekends to play board games and tell stories.
Last Stop, A Reindeer Ranch in Lapland
Santa always visits a special reindeer ranch in Lapland, where baby reindeer learn to prance and glide. He teaches them how to make soft landings and give gentle nudges with their noses. “Always fly kind,” he tells them. Blitzen, the fastest flier, leads reindeer races, while Rudolph referees with his bright red nose flashing in excitement.

Getting Ready — Even in Summer
Even when he’s relaxing, Santa is always thinking of children around the world. He checks the Nice List (yes, even in July!) and makes little notes like:
- “Add more glow to tree lights.”
- “Penguin pajamas were a big hit!”
- “Remember more purple wrapping paper.”
Because for Santa, every day — even a sunny one in July — is a step toward making Christmas magical.
So you were wondering, “What does Santa do in the Summer?” Welp, now you know, and isn’t it just grand?
